Halloween already?!?

I have been playing with the thinlits-circle card die for my Big Shot lately and decided I was ready to try my hand at a Halloween card.  Fall truly is my favorite time of the year and Halloween has always been my favorite holiday (followed closely by Christmas, of course!).  There's just something about pumpkin carving, seeing all of the kids in their costumes and a good skeleton or two that really makes me smile!  So, with that being said, I decided to make an extended thinlit card with a Halloween theme.  Here is what I came up with:

You will need:
a Big Shot
the Thinlit-Circle Card Die
5 3/8" x 8 1/2" cardstock for background
2" x 5 3/8" Designer Series Paper for left-hand side of card
2 5/8" x 5 3/8" Designer Series Paper for right-hand side of card
2 3/4" x 5 3/8" cardstock for inside card center
Adhesive
Owl Builder Punch
Bird Builder Punch
1/2" Circle Punch
Tags for You stamp set
Label Bracket Punch
2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch
Stampin' Dimensionals
Stampin' Write Markers
Stampin' Trimmer or Simply Scored Scoring Tool

First, you will want to adhere the Designer Series Paper to the left-hand side of your card leaving a little border of cardstock showing--be sure to just use adhesive around the outside edges and on the inside edge leaving a gap where your circle will cut with the die.  Then, you will want to score the background piece at 2 7/8" from the right-hand side.  This will allow you to adhere your cardstock for the center of your card easily as you can line it up with this score line (the score line will be on the right-hand side).  Again, be sure to just use adhesive around the outside edges and on the inside edge leaving a gap where your circle will cut with the die.

Run this through your Big Shot--you will want the extra length of cardstock up and over the top of the end of the die.  I just ran it through until I was about 3/4 of the way over the die and then reversed it out of the Big Shot.  Remove the portions of Designer Series Paper that were cut within the circle--it should be easy to remove if you didn't use adhesive in this area!  Now, you will want to adhere the remaining piece of Designer Series Paper on the back of the right-hand side (centering along the score line you made earlier which will be on the left).  Now, embellish!  I chose to make a little bat to put in my "moon" on the front of the card.  He is made using the Owl Builder Punch--I took the "vest" piece and used the 1/2" circle punch and did a small punch out of the center and then another on each side to make his little wings!

This is what the inside of my card looks like.  I have rather large handwriting, so I LOVE having the extra space inside of my card to write my greeting on!

Please let me know if you are interested in learning more about making this card!  I am continuing to schedule private card classes and would enjoy showing you how to make this card and others!  I have plenty of cards to choose from and all supplies are pre-cut so that all you and your guests have to do is stamp and adhere pieces together!  I make it easy--I promise!

Have a wonderful day!

I find myself often mentioning at my private card classes that a good, basic sketch can be used over and over again for many different cards. Even by just changing up colors and/or Designer Series Paper you can change the whole look of a card even if the sketch is the same.  Take a look at this picture--you can see how easy it is to go from a more feminine card to one that could be used for kids.  Also, with a switch of a different image you can easily go from birthday to anniversary, get well soon or just a card to say a friendly "Hello!"

Are you interested in seeing how easily a sketch can be used to make multiple cards with just a little effort?  I am now booking private card classes for the upcoming months!  I will be focusing on general card ideas and also getting you ready for the upcoming Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas season!  Contact me right away to save your date!  These classes generally only take an hour or two so they are a quick and easy way to add some fun to your week!  I have evening and weekend spots available--I would love to meet you along with your friends and family to show you some amazing ideas!

Reserve your spot in my private class to make this "spooky" Halloween decor TODAY!

Hello!  Well, I have been away from the blogging world for quite some time now but figured I should make my way back into it!  I have decided to start letting my stamping friends reserve spots now for my Spooky Banner Class that I have scheduled for Friday, September 20th from 6:00-8:00PM!  This class will consist of an adorable--yet spooky--banner that you can use to show your Halloween spirit!  You will receive the banner pieces which are made from canvas and fabulous embellishments including several styles of ribbon, buttons, rhinestones and glittery die cut pieces!  I am limiting my class to 8 so that it will allow me to help newer crafters learn the basic skills if necessary.  If my class of 8 fills up and I have more customers interested then I will potentially open another class.

Please note that the fee for this class is $30.00.  This fee must be paid to me prior to the class as I will be ordering the exact amount of product that I need for each participant.  I suggest that you reserve your spot today--I don't think it will take long for this exciting class to fill up!  Please email me at doxiedesigns@yahoo.com if you are interested in this class and I will get you signed up right away.  I can then send you a Paypal invoice or will gladly accept a personal check by mail or cash if you prefer to meet up prior to the class.  If you sign up and are unable to attend, please know that you will still be able to complete the banner as I will work with you to come up with an alternate time for you to make it (or I will make it for you if you wish!).  I am so excited to offer this class to you!  I am even planning on scaring up some delicious goodies to inspire us!
